We live near Jessy’s parents and operate the land that has been in his family for four generations near Gregory, SD. We purchased our first set of Angus cattle in 2010 at the same sale barn Katie spent many days with her dad.

Katie’s parents were lifelong ranchers. In 2013, Katie’s dad Harley passed away and her mom Dorothy turned over the brand rights of S3 to Katie & Jessy. Many of the black Angus cattle we started our herd with were from the Smizer ranch.

Katie is a certified professional in Healthcare Quality, as well as a nurse. Her training is an integral part of having successful outcomes in the ranching business as well. Jessy is both the farmer and the rancher for our operation. He is responsible for carrying out the day to day operations of haying, harvesting, grain hauling, cowboying, feeding, moving cattle, fence fixing, and much more!
